Benefit Package Includes:
To be eligible for the VFA death benefit, the deceased must have met each of the following criteria: been a member of a volunteer fire department; been an unpaid volunteer with such fire department. Have signed up for the VFA Benefit Package. The death must have occurred as a result of the actual discharge of the duties of the position.

$10,000 LINE OF DUTY Death Benefit
The Volunteer Firefighter Alliance will pay the Benefit Amount that has been signed up for, subject to all applicable conditions and exclusions, if the firefighter is killed acting in the Line of Duty.
The death must take place while:
1. the firefighter is on duty, on or off the Fire Departments premises; or
2. Acting in the Line of Duty during response to an emergency while off duty.
The Volunteer Firefighter Alliance will pay the Benefit Amount that has been signed up for, subject to all applicable conditions and exclusions, if the firefighter is killed acting in the Line of Duty.
